Event Description

Speaker Dr Steven Tonkin, Curator, Public Art Collection, the Arts Centre

Artists’ books played a crucial role in the circulation of conceptual art to and from Australia. In assembling a library of artists’ books, Robert Rooney was an active participant in establishing an international artists' network. This floor talk will explore how his collection presents a fascinating firsthand account of conceptual art in the 1970s.

I'd love to see anything in print that comes out of this - sorry I can't be there.  Shame it doesn't coincide with Impact 7!

Sarah - you will have to ask Steven - he may be interested in publishing something?

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
