Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...
Book Art exhibitions around the world, at least the ones I came across, are focusing more more on content which mostly protests issues which everyone is aware of. I can list "the passaport series" of the recent Istanbul Biennial as an example to my theory. It disturbs me to see that contemporary artists seem to diisregard aesthetics.
I think it is absulutely necessary to inject a bit of "sunlight" into our "angry" world in all forms of art we make. Any comments?

Permalink Reply by Marco Castoldi on March 14, 2013 at 18:41 I think you're right, but I'd rather say that is not a struggle about the supremacy of content over aesthetics (or viceversa). I agree with Susan Sontag's On Style that says it's impossible to draw a line in between those two issues.
That's why in my opinion is unsatisfactory to deal only with content. The aesthetics should be inspired by content as content should be shaped accorgingly to the guidance of some aesthetics.
