Entry Form (Innisfail October 2009 Biennial Art Exhibition) & Workshop Tutor Suggestions Please

Extending on from my latest Blog... (still finding my way around here so please bare with me)

Found I could download the relevant Entry Form files (1xPDF & 1xMSWdoc) here in 'discussions' so people can easily access these now hopefully. Will post a link in the Competitions and Awards Group too, as well.

As I mentioned in my last blog Innisfail Art Society Inc (IAS) have introduced an Artist Book Award category this year.

We (IAS) have Rebecca Barrett (Brisbane based) up for a workshop for next weekend August 22-23 It's basically working with artist book covers.

Now we are also on the lookout for another Workshop Tutor anticipated to be held soon after the Biennial Exhibition.
We'd like to keep a momentum going with the creation/awareness of artist books in our community as there is a very limited awareness of such in our general population, being so far north.

As we are also experiencing issues with the current Council, who in previous months announced there will be no new Library built for at least another 10 years or more now, we thought this would help give a creative focus/perspective to the meaning of Library and books.

Our Library was destroyed when Cyclone Larry hit and the Council owned building was soon sold afterwards and insurance monies collected. A temporary 'downsized' Library was relocated in a smaller building that was previously used for Community Services. It also was serverely damaged in the Cyclone and it was a year or more before the town had any description of any functioning Library.

3 1/2 years on now the new Council (previous Council was officially sacked 6 months after Cyclone Larry) say any allocated Library monies have all been spent - invested in the $Million+ upgrade and restoration of the Shire Hall.

So from all this lack of Council planning initiative, a town lobbying action group has since formed in the hope to get a new Library (with high hopes of a Gallery attached) built as soon as possible.
You can go here, to Jacque's blog for some further insights/updates on the situation.

I hope you will seriously consider entering your work as it would be great to get the public awareness happening with a great showcase of Artist Books in this exhibition and we will be reinforcing this with another Artist Books creative workshop to soon follow afterwards.

Anyone who can suggest tutors to me so I can follow up, I would be grateful.
Thanks.
Kerryn

I would suggest Glen Skien who is now in Brisbane could be good - he used to live in Mackay and has a pretty good feel for North Queensland and everyone always enjoys his workshops. Otherwise you could try Gracia and Louise or Tim Mosely or Sara Bowen ...

Thanks Robert. Will keep those in mind for future reference. Due to time constraints have already lined up Adele O. for a creative artists' books workshop Nov 7/8 all going well with a RADF application.
