Looking for Artist in Residency USA Opportunities 2015

Hi, I'm planning to travel to the United States in 2015 and I was hoping to discover more of book arts there. I'm looking for artist in resident opportunities that I can apply to. I'm particularly looking at California.

I am a book artist in the Philippines and will be having my first solo show next month. There is no book art scene here and I'm happy that the industry here is opening up to book arts. My works focus more on sculptural book forms with elements of wood, glass, and paper. I am eager to introduce book arts as a vital genre in our contemporary art scene and I'm willing to explore what others are doing outside my homeland.

If you have any information or suggestions, I would very much appreciate it.

Thank you,

Veronica Laurel

Hi Veronica

I looked at your www pages, love your work.

San Francisco Center for the Book might be a great place to make contacts in California.

Cheers Ken Ford.

Hi Ken, thanks! I just had my solo show and it was well received. I was given the opportunity by a benefactor to travel to the US by providing me fare and visa finances but the deal was to get accepted to an institution there haha! It's too good to pass up. I will look into the SF book art center. I also saw one in New York but I guess they only accept New Yorkers.

Or the Morgan in Cleveland is doing great work in paper and has such opportunities.

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
