Smoke and Mirrors is a series of photographs shot over three years by Miami-based artist Christiaan Lopez-Miro at Hollywood’s famed Magic Castle, New York’s Monday Night Magic and Magic on the Beach in Miami.
The images grant the viewer entrance into an otherwise inaccessible world where conjurers spend countless hours honoring their craft and practicing sleights in the attempt to recreate a moment of impossibility.
As a magician and member of the Magic Castle, Lopez-Miro was able to obtain access. The result is a tapestry of dark images, intimate in nature and at times confrontational.
