Artist Books 3.0

Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...

To make Life easier!

I think it would be a good idea to have three choices as to the title? I think one would find they all cross-pollinate in any event. Please, we are ALL in the most experienced artist books makers.  We have been exchanging for quite a while and have come to know the quality we each expect from one another. This will be a free-form book I think, as dictated by the title, BUT - please be respectful towards your fellow participants. Hard/Strong cover, accordion, pamphlet stitch or folded book, A6 when closed, in size.

Cheryl, great to see you back !!

Quite right, that is really perfect to make life easier ! But very interesting challenge ! xx

Thanks Stephanie and Martine :-)XX

I'm a book artist living in montréal. is it possible to participate ? how this collective work? just let me know

Hello :-) guylaine - for sure you can participate - we have been working together for a long time - will some of you please put images here so that we can show guylaine the sort of work we do and the standards we keep. This for example is a book by Ptrizia (Germany).  The books are handmade although in small editions, hard cover, and of really good quality :-)X

Photos of our exchanges up to #16 here on my blog BOOKS LIKE STARS.

I am very pleased to work on a new type of structure. It’s exciting to escape the accordion or pamphlet stitch formats ! x

Posting one (#14 Holes) I'm rather proud of for Guylaine to have a look see although this was a very involved process and was VERY labour intensive.

My first collaboration with this group, the linocut A6 Accordian about Saartjie Baartman and Marilyn Monroe.

I see there's 8 participants listed, 9 with Guylaine. I plan, so far, handpainting each individual book. If the group gets bigger is there a chance of fewer bookmakers per group?

Oh, that would be such a pity to have two groups, I just saw Ptrzias Book for the other #15-group, and thought "oh no, I should have been part of both groups..." ;-)

Okay, one group. I agree about wishing I took part in more than one group because of the work. Look forward.

I won't add Guylaine until there is a reply in this thread, and close the number at 8? We have had riots on campus to add to the cacophony of life.  They have been quite scary! I was hoping to catch up on my No 16 books but no luck so far :-(! X

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.

If you are interested in advertising your event, publication  or project here - contact Robert regarding rates.
