Comment by Laura Hudson on December 7, 2012 at 19:29 It's sounding more and more exciting so would like to be included though it looks like youve got 5 already.
I feel rather stimulated by the sound of the new format bu would still be happy with the accordion if that's what most people prefer. I very much like the tree theme too.
timewise, it's probably not going to work well for me if the deadline is much earlier than the end of March.
Numbers? I'm quite happy to make up to 10 if necessary. I feel like Stephanie that perhaps 5 is too small a number and really prefer it to be 8 or 9.
Comment by Stephanie Turnbull on December 7, 2012 at 18:05 I'm in.! I could do with the challenge of a new format, although I feel nervous about the max of 5 feels a little low. I already have some ideas for the tree theme so I am happy to go with that!
If we allowed our collaborations to be longer time wise would that allow us to include a few more than 5 people? say no more than 8 or 9?
roll on 2013!!
Comment by Marian Crane on December 7, 2012 at 17:57 15 nearly melted my brain, given all the other stuff going on. I'm happy with the result, though.
Comment by Kathy Boyle on December 7, 2012 at 17:20 I may live to regret this, BUT I do like the sound of this format for a change.
because of the extra work involved I think it definitely needs to restricted no's, 5 sound like a good maximum to me. so assuming we are not doing this until 2013 count me in. I do love the subject
Marian - I know - I feel brain-mad some days!! I have SO MUCH to do - and yet continue to PILE my plate - a compulsive personality???? But I think people who make books are just intense in general - I look at some books and if I undid them, they would fill a WHOLE gallery wall instead of living in a small artifact... Stephanie - if you have not got 10 is it important to do 10?? I understand what you are saying, but feel DONE with this format - BUT am willing to do a last one if everyone is keen. Kathy - good - yes!! By early next week I will come up with a suggestion - or if anyone else has any - SPEAK UP :-)!! Lisa - yip - think the tree theme is a good one too.
Somehow, all this work needs to HEAD somewhere, towards a greater collection/exhibition of work, this is why I am making this new suggestion. A continuous 'encyclopedia' which can stand as an installation just seems a good way to carry on collaborating. I am also happy to make the book size bigger - A5 when folded - but think this may be daunting to fill?? Hence the A6 when closed size. I have such a great VISION for this 'encyclopedia'.!!! Let me know about #10 being the new format, or if artists would rather stick to the accordion - we will do it democratically :-) XX
P.S. IF some of you would rather do a one-on-one trial run, let me know - I am wiling to swop like that too. OR we limit each call to say 5 people with another title running at the same time so that everyone can participate. (First come first served basis - thats the only way to be fair) - I think 15 nearly caused a world-wide collapse :-))!
Comment by Lisa Iversen on December 7, 2012 at 7:29 Interested!
Want to hear more about how it works.
Like the Trees theme!
Comment by Laura Hudson on December 7, 2012 at 6:56 this sounds like a new and interesting challenge and i think i'd like to be involved. But not until I have the use of both hands:)
Comment by Kathy Boyle on December 7, 2012 at 3:49 mmmm.... sounds interesting I could well be interested, I will watch this space
Comment by Stephanie Turnbull on December 6, 2012 at 23:39 you've got my interest. would be nice to have a set of 10 concertina books before changing the format (not that i have 10). I think a disscussion needs to be set up
Comment by Marian Crane on December 6, 2012 at 22:57 I'd love to do a bigger series, but I can't. Q1 of 2013 is already full of paying art and writing commitments that will eat all of my time. I'm happy to have them, but that means fun stuff like book exchanges will have to wait until summer 2013 at least.
