Congrats on Libris Awards selection. My pic is of the gampi I made while in Banff. My Libris book is on my website, a complicated clamshell box with shelves, drawers and velvet embossings. I'm a bit nervous about sending it off - the works themselves are extremely delicate, the whole thing is quite heavy. How much longer is your exhibition on at Gallery M? How has the response been? Magpie studios isn't really an access studio, but does run classes occasionally. It's hard with limited access to equipment. Do you know about Bittondi? They have access arrangements. Well, I'll be going to ground over the next 3 weeks, I'm helping to build an installation by NY artist Tara Donovan who is showing during the Fesitval. The work will be up in the Samstag Museum - get along to see it when it opens, it promises to be quite awesome! Take care, Andrea

hi andea thanks for getting back, your book title sounds interesting, my book is in the libris thing as well, called the invisible girl a suburban story. The picture on view is this part of the book or what? I ve also got an exhibition at gallery m called field river. Banff center sounds great, something i would like to do. Have been playing around with paper making after visiting burnie.

Howdy Robert, thanks for the welcome. As usual, I find myself busy, and wouldn't have it any other way. Lots of projects on the go. My artist book "Shadows of my former self" has been included as a finalist in the Libris Awards at the Artspace in Mackay - finalists' work is being shown there in April. Banff was an amazing experience. I was there for 1 month mainly researching papermaking, but managed to do a little printing as well. The facilities at the Banff Centre are very impressive, all studio disciplines are covered. They also have writers, musicians and curators in residence so there is a real mixed community of creative minds. 1 month just wasn't long enough - got a lot done, but could have gone a lot further with more time. Anyway, its given me a good foundation to develop some new ideas. What about you - you're not studying? Look forward to hearing your news. Cheers, Andrea

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
