A venue to discuss different ways to get text into an artist's book. These days there are so many processes: handwriting, inkjet, offset, letterpress, silkscreen, and many more... let's talk about it.
Most of the work for the Horton Tank site has been done, but the site will not be up and running until the fall. For now there is an under construction page.
Horton Tank Graphics was established by Art Larson in 1987, primarily to print fine press books for Leonard Baskin's Gehenna Press. Thirty books were printed for the Press from 1987 to 2005.
Art has printed for many prominent artists and publishers over the years. Much of the work has been for small fine presses, especially Barry Moser's Pennyroyal Press and Michael Kuch's Double Elephant Press. Art has also worked with larger fine press publishers such as, The Limited Editions Club, 21st Editions, and Granary Press.
Horton Tank Graphics is dedicated to continuing the tradition of fine letterpress printing. Horton Tank exemplifies this tradition by constantly striving for perfection in the work done for its clients, in the use of the best traditional practices, and in training the next generation of letterpress printers. Services provided include custom letterpress printing, teaching, and project management.
Welcome. Nice to see you on this site. We need more book/printing folks from the U.S. on here. I have known of your press for years but have never met you. I am down in CT outside of Hartford. I am primarily a printmaker who occasionally prints books. I make woodcuts in single sheets and in my books. I teach at the Hartford Art School. Hope to meet you in person sometime.
