Hi Mardi, I'm coming to melbourne in March as director of workshops with book artist Ed Hutchins from new york. I'd love to come along to your gallery. You are also welcome to enrol in Ed's classes on the Secrets of animation or the second workshop Single Sheet structure. they are one day classes and will cover at least 10 structures!! a few places are left. zines fascinate me and I think i have a hundred in my head. this year's resolution is to get some of those into a REAL zine!!! merry christmas season. Hi Mardi, I'm looking forward to the zine fair in October! I will need to register for a stall. I am a book and zine maker. I also just opened a small gallery in inner city Melbourne called 'Hand Held' which is open to all things hand held (small objects, jewellery, books, ceramics, textiles etc.). I have part of the space designated for book arts and zines and am keen to build up the collection so the fair should be a good way to source some interested makers.
Hi there Mardi -- well done on a beautifully maintained blog. It's clear that you are really into" engaging with the various artists who have shown at the gallery. Those "sushi /slides" sessions seem to me to indicate that your gallery is an 'open' kind of place.
What I am wondering though, is where your own artwork is?
The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
