I studied artist's books at Mills College under the direction of Julie Chen and Kathleen Walkup, graduating in 2013 as the first MFA in Book Arts & Creative Writing with a concentration in Fiction. My work combines unexpected methods and materials as varied as welding, letterpress, laser cutting, sound, photography, creative writing, Kinect motion sensor technology, code, and traditional book binding to interrogate the book form. I completed an offset printing internship at the Journal of Artist's Books in June 2012 at Columbia College under the direction of Brad Freeman. I have been a resident artist at Kala Arts Institute, The Foundry (Berkeley), ABCO Artspace, and The Koz Collective. I am the Editor in Chief of The Book Art Blog where we are always accepting critique, reviews, news, and commentary related to artist's books. I am currently working on a letterpress book entitled "Jarring" for an upcoming residency in Winter 2013 at Women's Studio Workshop to raise awareness about assault and benefit crisis centers. Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.

If you are interested in advertising your event, publication  or project here - contact Robert regarding rates.
