Background
I've been involved in the visual arts & writing since the late 1970s. At the moment my main artist book related project is a comprehensive exhibition of the artists books of Robert Jacks - including some 40 years of his artist's book production, as well as new work. I've written on the visual arts for Australian newspapers and magazines, with artists books being just one subject among many that I've engaged with over the years. I also write short fiction & poetry.

Free Media Bulletin

With the exhibition - The Artists Books of Robert Jacks - now on show, and the catalogue begining to trickle into distribution, I'm moving to a more focussed phase of research into Robert Jacks' book related work. As part of this research, I'm trying to find copies of Free Media Bulletin from 1971. Web searching does not turn up much of any use. Although there are a few references - in particular to issue 1, which was edited by Jeff Wall. But I'm looking for nos. 12 / 16 / 17.… Continue

Dear Peter,

I was invited by ted Hawkes, who at that time was teaching I believe at Brighton Art School and living in Blackheath, where he introduced me to Ian Wilson who was staying with him.

to allow him to feature my work in a complete issue of Free Media Bulletin.(I still have a copy of it, which was entirely in my typewritten manuscript.)

I am working on a project which reprises a work from the period or earlier and I would very much like to contact Ted and send him a copy.

If you have a means of contacting him I should be most grateful for your assistance in helping me to him, please.

Hi Peter, Robert and I are hoping to get up and see the show before it comes down. I'll email you after that with some comments. Congrats on getting this long-running project up and running and into the world. I had a quick check on Libraries Aust for Free Media Bulletin - only reference is a Vancouver journal, with following subjects assigned:
Literature, Modern -- Periodicals.
Art, Modern -- Periodicals.
Littérature moderne -- Périodiques.
Art moderne -- Périodiques.
no dates, with no holdings in Aust.
Does that sound like it?

. . . on line right now eh?
I just dropped in before I go up and make lunch, did the set up of a silk suspension in an early small French drum movement this morning, time side running after it has been completely overhauled. At least dealing with clocks (as against art), all the makers are already dead!
