What a treat, Australian Bookbinders Exhibition have pulled off a coup. I had no idea what to expect, I was confident the quality would be there and was very pleased to be at the opening. Having originally studied in Sydney and very aware of the few opportunities to see exhibitions of artists books in Sydney ( despite the creative energy there is for them there ), I particularly enjoyed being able to touch so many books. I find one of the strengths of artists books and bookworks, is that many… Continue

Southern Cross University Artists Book Award

Posted on July 3, 2008 at 11:09 0 Comments

The award has already established itself as an exhibition that exemplifies the diversity of artists book practice in Austalia after running for 4 years.

Hi Tim, I see your work is in the Australian Bookbinders show in Sydney next week; are you going down for the opening? I got a cheap flight so I'll be there and I'm hoping to catch some exhibitions too. Just put my research proposal in to SCU so fingers crossed something positive happens! See you soon, Sara x

Hi Tim,
Thank you for your comment!
Pity, I couldn't get into your website. I would like to exchange experiences of handmade paper and books.
My regards, Silvia

Thanks Tim, I'm hoping to get there in about 10 days. Great being within a dedicated postgrad bookarts course, but the city is proving to be a noisy distraction from my own producing & making ... so much to see...!

Hi Tim, thanks for your comment. I have been slightly distracted as I am in London. I got a grant to spend some time at Camberwell College of Art and their postgrad Bookarts program. I have joined the discussion group you mentioned and will give it more attention soon, I am planning to visit CFPR soon. PS they have a letterpress workshop here which is very exciting!

Hi Tim, Great that you commented as I have spent lots of time today looking for addresses - can you send me your snail mail address please - for special project related to Island Postcards back in 2001. cheers Penny

Thanks Tim. I actually drove up to Brisbane just before the exhibition opened and hoped to drop in to say hallo, but the timing didn't quite work. Next time! Hope all is well.

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.

If you are interested in advertising your event, publication  or project here - contact Robert regarding rates.
