Welcome to my Profile Page

Hi, I am Büchertiger - the Book Tiger, also known as Hilke Kurzke.

Books and paper fascinate me on many different levels, and again and again I am wondering how they do their magic. I am trying to get closer to answers through my own artwork.
I am trained as a mathematician and never visited an art school. But since more than a year now, binding books has been my main occupation. While I try to earn my money with binding and selling blank journals I really wish to make more book art. Due to the circumstances I am completely self trained and so far learned by books, other written instructions, and mainly by trial and error.

No, I didn't make the paper myself. I bought it at my art supply store. They claim it was handmade, - whatever that means. Judging by the price it can only be partially handmade. It is a cotton paper, and I really like the touch and feel of the page…
