Background
I was introduced to artists books at a weekend workshop at Wollongong TAFE by Robert Jacks in 1979, but I don't know if we called them that then. A few years later on I met Liz Jeneid who made books while at the University of Wollongong. I didn't make any books that I recognised as artist books till about 1995 in Alice Springs at a Textile Fibre forum workshop with Adele Outteridge, where I made a few books that I like.
I like to make installations, many of them now could be/are books.
My background is in sculpture, printmaking, textiles and artists' books. I have given workshops in printmaking; monotype and photopolymer plates.

creating titles for books

Posted on March 10, 2011 at 17:28 0 Comments

i've been making his book for about 3 or 4 years or maybe more on and off. it gets buried under stuff and brought out  after  few years. I lost the original for the screen  printing.when it turned up again i started it again. now its just about finished and I cant think of a name for it. It had a nick name (working title) 'the brain book'. I know I will eventually settle on the right name but I haven't yet.

are microfiche readers still in our library?

I'm going to see if our library still has the readers. i think that they put in computers instead in the last update of the space.

Judy - hello - I made such a mix up with the numbers for Book # 3.  Have you started working on it? If not, would you mind doing Book # 4??? Otherwise I was thinking why cant we just have 6 artists?? What do you think?

Dear Judy: I hope your grandson is better... Little children have the power of love and life with them.My best wishes for him.

I`ll send you some images of our Sand Book soon. Here is a little postcard I made from your drawings... We put them in the sand and then people took some to send to another people living at other shores. I hope you like it. Cheers!!!

Judy, when I get the entry form finalised and sent to you please let other book artists know about the exhibition. We want to involve lot of artists and to make this a significant exhibition.

My plan is also to have some of the artists give a little talk about their works - durng the weekend of the exhibition. I probably will also offer a special workshop to run at the time of the exhibition to stimulate interest.

If i manage to have the person opening it that I want (depends on her timetable) then we my see if she (Adel Outteridge) can also give a short workshop - lts to still organise but it will be quite a show.

Judy, I was one of the book artists that exhibited in the Manly Librarty exhibition. It was a great step for the library and they are planning to hold this exibition again in 2 years time.

I have a group of artists that meet in my workshop (Sydney) each month for  general chat, I share ideas and problems. Very much to encourage and stimulate each other. I must try to get images of some of their works on my blog.

I mention this as we welcome othere to join us if they are interested and we, as a group, are behind the organising and preparing for the forthcoming ArtBound artists book exhibition. I guess you are too far away for this but please keep it in mind if you can ever get to Sydney - we meet on a Saturday afternoon from 4.00 to 6.00pm/.

Judy, I am delighted to have you as a friend. Your work, in my mind, is definately part of the exciting world of Artists Books - a form of paper engineering - and a complete statement wih reference, if somewhat loosely, to books.

Please keep in touch and be tempted to join our exhibition due late September this year. I can send detail when the entry forms are complete.

Enjoyed looking at your work shown here but will go to your website for more.

I know Sue Anderson also.
