Spent entirely way to much time in the corporate world as a graphic designer and eventually a manager of designers (over 20 years). Like a lot of corporate jobs it pretty much swallowed up my life (of course i probably could have worked on the ol' work/life balance but . . . ) Anyway like others in this economic downturn lady luck was not in my corner. As difficult as the situation may seem, I do feel it was also a benefit. Maybe it's the ability to review and assess my life. I am grateful for the extra time i've been able to spend in the studio. Hopefully my time away has not caused any irreparable damage. I do look forward to creating, sharing and exploring the world of artist books. Because what could be more life affirming than creative endeavor?

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
