Hi Astrid, great to hear from you. I'm struggling to keep on top of everything but I'm hoping that once I've moved (and what an exhausting thing that is) I'll have a new home, new life, a real bookbinding workshop - and just thinking about it makes me feel energized. I have so much blog reading to do but I know I'll eventually catch up.

Background
Hello! My name is Astrid and at the beginning of 2007, I commenced my journey into the world of bookbinding where I can bring together my love of books, my wish to create useable objects and working with my hands.
Whereas on one hand I'm in a process of learning and eploring new techniques, a certain style has developped on the other: In my Bag-Books, I consciously try to work waste paper from every day life into solid and useable books. These are mostly paper shopping bags, so this is where the title Bag-Books comes from. I do use, though, other "ephemera of urban life", too, like product packaging, disused envelopes or leaflets and flyers.
The Bag-Books are currently on exhibition at the "Arte Sustenibile – the art and design of sustainability" in Bad Urach, Germany (with Dessau, Berlin and Bonn following).
I am also keeping a blog in German and English where I talk about bookbinding, book and paper arts and my books.
