Call for art: MCBA's Bookish Bash "Art Mart"

On July 19, Minnesota Center for Book Arts will transform our studios into a tropical hideaway in celebration of MCBA's Unabashedly Bookish Bash -- a festive benefit with a nod to the summer patio get-togethers of yesteryear. Read more about this fun event at our website:

As a book artist I’m an amateur. Meaning I’ve never been through a book arts program, or any visual art degree at all. I did do an MFA in creative writing, but artists books are generally not novels. I had some help with making paper, and took a week-long binding workshop once. In photography (analog and digital) I’m completely self-trained. At Berkeley I did a year of hand printing with Roger Levenson. I studied book…

We are looking for works that focus on the sacred and/or the profane, the dichotomy of often-polarizing points of view.

Topics to consider along that razor-thin line between sacred and profane: ritual and ceremony, creation and evolution, myth and memory, heaven and earth,…

Almost there, Book as Art 30 years in the making.

With only two weeks to go until the work is installed I must admit I am drained, apart form finishing up new work and repairing some of the old artist book I have been busy with invites, catalogues, promotion and advertising. But the best is yet to come, finally I with the help and talents of the staff at BRAG the exhibition will be brought to life and for the first time in thirty years of producing artist books, they can be viewed as one cohesive exhibition.…
