What Can Artists Do When People Stop Buying Their Work?

For four decades Anglo-Spanish fine-art printmaker, Maureen Booth, has made her living in Spain from her art. In all these years she has not seen tougher times for artists than now. Meanwhile, back in Seattle...

I am apparently not a very prolific writer, when it comes to a blog... It's been since May of 2009 that I've written anything. In the mean time, I've rented a studio space to work in, & I've been producing much more intricate & involve pieces. It's been a very good two years... :-) Right now I'm working on a new piece. It is conceptual in nature. A pyramid, covered with hammered copper sheeting. There is a lense in one side, for viewing the interior. I will be posting once it's…

Serialization: marketing strategy

Friends -- I'm trying out a new marketing strategy. Since my books use long texts, I thought of serializing them on my blog . The idea is to use the texts to attract people to my website where, since I don't sell my books but give them away, the reader of the text might want to download a graphic version. Or look at the…

Call for Work - Atlanta, GA

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
