Mind you, since I have no Latin I may have spelled that incorrectly... I just wanted to add to my previous post about the
'Without Boundaries' show in Sydney: I inferred that Imogen Yang curated the exhibition, when what I intended to say was that I was talking to Imogen, who is a curator! In fact the exhibition is the joint work of Imogen, Lorraine Brown who kindly pointed out my mistake, Sue Anderson and Wayne Stock, and they should all be congratulated for pulling together such an…

What a treat, Australian Bookbinders Exhibition have pulled off a coup. I had no idea what to expect, I was confident the quality would be there and was very pleased to be at the opening. Having originally studied in Sydney and very aware of the few opportunities to see exhibitions of artists books in Sydney ( despite the creative energy there is for them there ), I particularly enjoyed being able to touch so many books. I find one of the strengths of artists books and bookworks, is that many…

I've just come back from Sydney after attending the opening event at the Australian Bookbinders' Exhibition at the Pine Street Creative Arts Centre Gallery, and I had such a great time. As someone who hasn't long been living in Australia (two years last month) it was great to walk into a room of artist book people and see familiar faces! I probably knew more people at the opening event than I know in Coffs Harbour, which says a lot about the artists' book community, I think. It is undoubtedly a…

I'm really looking forward to going to see this exhibition in sydney tomorrow night and catching up with other passionate artist book makers.
I put in a book that I made as part of the box of books given to me as chuck outs from the local library. I really appreciate all the hard work that has gone into the setting up of this exhibition by passionate volunteers.
'The new library'…

Our group exhibition is in it's second 'week. After months of planning and making new work, the business of exhibiting and planning an opening is nearly over.
Documenting my work while it is installed is my focus now, and hoping that all who wish to see it have been able to make it to the gallery.
I am enjoying the experience of exhibiting in an artist run gallery where we have full editorial control and can use the gallery as we please. I can pin things to the walls move stuff around…

Colouring books, sketch books, paintings, miniature copies and a giant book will be on show in Andy Lawson’s new installation opening at Hand Held Gallery Tuesday 4th of November 2008, 7-9pm.
"There is Order...", is an installation which utilizes the methodology of multiples, collecting, enlargement, miniaturisation and collaborations with other artists, to create contemplative narratives from the mundane, the incidental and inconsequential.

i recently read jan allsopp's blog about the big banana images. In Wollongong we have the 'big book' I now have a new digital camera as my other one died in the middle of documenting my exhibition. I'll take some pics of the big book for the artist books blogsite.
today I went to see the sculpture by the sea last day at Bondi and Tamarama in Sydney, Australia. What a crowd! No books there, except maybe for the scrabble pieces Sculpture.
