Printmaking and book arts in Cuba- Spring 2010



This past February 2010 I returned to Havana with my family for 3 months. While in Havana I was fortunate to teach book arts classes at 2 universities and work with 15 Cuban artists on our newest collaboration –

What does an artists book cost?

This question comes up from time to time. I've worked out some estimates. Cost to produce, cost per page, cost per reader. Results vary. There are no economies of scale. Why I give away digital copies.

Bea Nettles Lecture at Duke University Library

Book Artist Publishes Funny Novel

Book artist David Drum of Burning Books Press, Los Angeles, has published a funny novel entitled INTRODUCING THE RICHEST FAMILY IN AMERICA. The book's cover was designed by Karrie Ross, but Drum designed the interior pages and the white cutouts on the front cover.
