A page from the book
This page detail from the book contains some of the poem about th Icelandic language, written by Liz Cashdan. The earlier images look a bit odd, as I had changed the image to make space for the poem. So when they are shown without the poem they seem to look…

A long and complicated procedure
At last, after around six attempts, I managed to have the E-book 'Iceland stories accepted by Apple for the itunes bookstore. I kept getting two cryptic messages
'compound author, please separate
and
'Metadata linked to the feed by the ticket' which seems gobbledegook.
Apparently they found it difficult to accept three names with what we had contributed (e.g. images by, sound by and poems by), so I simply put all three names. In the end they put my name as…

Serialization
Since I last posted about this I have a better understanding of the effect of serialization on traffic. It has tripled users and increased traffic from 2000 to 5000 human visits a month. Since I started this I have done three books. Each time, when the book finishes the traffic returns to the base 2000. The same has happened twice when the blog has been down for repairs. Each serial has prompted download of about 30 e-books. Unfortunately, there is no crossover from the blog to the web. With…

An Inventory of Al-Mutanabbi Street - 15 artists needed!
On March 5th 2007, a car bomb was exploded on al-Mutanabbi Street in Baghdad. Al-Mutanabbi Street is in a mixed Shia-Sunni area. More than 30 people were killed and more than 100 were wounded. Al-Mutanabbi Street, the historic centre of Baghdad bookselling, and heart and soul of the Baghdad literary and intellectual community, holds bookstores and outdoor bookstalls, cafes, stationery…

Integrating word with image
In late November there was a book launch for our newly published book 'Iceland Stories'. It was hosted by the Icelandic Embassy in London. It was a wonderful event. Our guests and ourselves were given a warm welcome by the Ambassador of Iceland to London, His Excellency, Benedikt Jónsson and members of his staff. If it all sounds very formal - it wasn't. With lots of wine, delicious eats, our four year old granddaughter, Nina, and one year old Rufus, son of Jen and Robin, how could it be…
