Nicole Silvester More Elfland

I've just posted the last batch of images of my very old book (1992!) Growing Up in Elfland. You can see the photos individually in My Photos, but if you want to see the book as a whole, I'd recommend viewing the "Growing Up in Elfland" Album. I'll warn you, though, it's full of bad drawings and worse poetry. I'm really only posting it as part of an historical record of my development as a bookbinder and book artist. Now I'll have to dig through my things and decide what to post next. I… Continue

Jan Allsopp Plant based paper and the Law

I was recently sent a little handmade book and some handmade paper. The Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service 'ordered into quarantine' most of the handmade paper. I have just put a blog post on my personal blog about it. I have cross posted it here as well. I think it is something artists who create with paper and fibres need to keep in mind. I'm sure Australia isn't the only country with stif… Continue

Robert Heather Art Deco books?

Just a quick note to say that I went to the Art Deco exhibition at the NGV yesterday and was very surprised to see some wonderful art deco bookbinding included in the show as well as a copy of Sonia Delaunay's Illustration for Blaise Cendrars's, La Prose du Transiberien et La Petite Jehanne de France (Editions des Hommes Nouveaux 1913). Probably I shouldn't have been surprised because the exhibition has come from the Victoria and Albert Mus… Continue
