An exciting couple of Months at Hand Held Gallery

The next few months are going to be very exciting at Hand Held with an fantastic calendar of exhibitions lined up , many of them book arts exhibitions by Melbourne based as well as interstate artists.



Opening May 6 is Paul Compton's 'Houses of Blood and Rapture' a collection of pop-ups, fold-outs, zines and prints exploring Australian haunted houses (until May 29).

Jan/Feb at Hand Held

Hand Held is back in swing for the new year an exciting exhibition program of objects, small works, book and paper arts. Our January exhibition, which continues through to Feb 6th, is Chloe Vallance's beautiful 'Step Lightly between the Branches. My Gallery, Hand Held,

is a small gallery in the centre of Melbourne.

The gallery focuses on the hand held object including the artist book- an innately hand held object that requires the viewer to touch in order to view. Hand Held Gallery(Melbourne) will host its 2nd annual Bill Posters Poster and Postcard exhibition in December. Artists are asked to submit posters, prints or images in poster format ( how you interpret that - mounted, folded, rolled, loose, bound, one off or multiple, unconventional in shape and size- it's up to you!). Minuscule/Massive/En Masse

Miniscule/Massive/En Masse opens on the 27th Jan at Hand Held Gallery Melbourne6-8pm. The new exhibition is a playful experiment based around the experimental text 'Alley Cat Nomad', an unpublished novel by Adrian Lawson. Hand Held gallery has recently opened in Melbourne. Hand Held is an object gallery with a focus on Artist books. I am seeking book makers who are interested in showing their work in the gallery, either as part of an exhibition(solo or small group show accepted) or within the space I am referring to as 'the bookshop' where I am at an early stage of developing a collection of artist books on show (and for sale).
