Artist Books 3.0

Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...

Hand Held is back in swing for the new year an exciting exhibition program of objects, small works, book and paper arts. Our January exhibition, which continues through to Feb 6th, is Chloe Vallance's beautiful 'Step Lightly between the Branches. Chloe explores the figure in space with intricately detailed pencil drawings on a variety of surfaces from paint swatches to timber. From February 11 we will be exhibiting Selena de Carvalho's 'More Rogue Ideas', a mixed media, book, print, collage, installation exhibition exploring the weather patterns El Nino and La Nina (boy child and girl child). 'By personifying these elemental attributes of destruction and enchantment in the form of children I am creating a poetic narrative that reflects on human interaction with our environment.'
The gallery is looking great with new shelves and a heap of new book and zine artists with new work in the gallery or on the way in the next few weeks. All are welcome to drop by!

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
