Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...
Hello all! For those in the Twin Cities (Minnesota, US) area or nearby, we hope you will take part in our HARUKAZE FESTIVAL this Saturday, May 19!
The festival includes a day-long community open house with hands-on art activities for all ages (including marbling, binding, origami and more!); professional artist demonstrations of traditional Japanese art forms; and the premiere of three marvelous exhibitions of contemporary artwork that reflect the use and evolution of traditional Japanese artistic practices. The main exhibition, "Shin Jidai: Contemporary Book and Paper Arts", includes work by over 50 artists, from all over the US plus Australia, France, U.K. and Slovenia.
The festival is free and open to the public!
Saturday, May 19; 10am-4pm
Harukaze Festival of Japanese Book and Paper Arts
at Minnesota Center for Book Arts
1011 Washington Ave. S, in the Open Book building
