Special issue of Latrobe Journal "Creating and Collecting: Artists' books in Australia"

Des Cowley, Anna Welch and myself were recently the guest editors of special issue of The LaTrobe Journal, the State Library of Victoria's schoilarly journal on the theme of "Creating and Collecting: Artists' books in Australia'.

The issue includes essays by Helen Cole, Andrew Schuller, Sasha Grishin, Steven Tonkin, Caren Florance, Peter Anderson, Marian Macken and Doug Spowart as well as a photo essay on artists' books in the State Library's collection and a fabulous cover by Gracia and Louise.

The Journal also complements the Library's new exhibition as well Inspiration by Design: Word and Image from the Victoria and Albert ... which contains some great examples of book arts...

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
