Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...

The Dissemination of Unique Books into the World as Mail Art

I predominately make one-off unique books. When they are bought, they sit on shelves gathering dust, very seldom seeing the light of day. So now, once they are made, I cut them up and send them out as mail art into the world. A process based art practice.  The World is a Town, inspired by the Novgorod Codex was the first recycled hand made book to  suffer this fate. The second book to undergo the knife is Bones of Contention. This work originally took nine months to complete. In one afternoon it was pulped and remade. It is now being posted as Mail Art. Is anyone willing to give me a piece of one of their unique books/unique piece of art?  I will post to you first. Leave your address in my inbox.

Julie - you're on - thank you :-)!! I have a big mail art exhibition coming up this year - the first in South Africa I think, so your work will be a great addition :-) X

This is so radical and brave. I will be making an edition this year and I would be happy to exchange a page with you. After printing, I will use some means to make it unique.

Available to everyone: Robert Jacks & Printed Matter

10 September - 24 October 2016

Printed Matter is pleased to announce Available to Everyone: Robert Jacks and Printed Matter, curated by Peter Anderson.

The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.

If you are interested in advertising your event, publication  or project here - contact Robert regarding rates.
