Artist Books 3.0

Where artists' books and the book arts meet online...

Somehow Abigail Uhteg managed not only to edition a book and take some of the sweetest photos ever during her residency here at Women's Studio Workshop, but she also managed to put together over 3000 images to make a fabulous stop-motion video of the process as well. We cant stop watching this! It captures major action in all of our studios: printmaking, hand-papermaking, letterpress, and book binding. The video has been circulating the internet virally, hitting facebook, twitter, blogs, listservs, and now it's next stop is Singapore for the design film festival!

You can learn more about Abby at www.pressejanvier.com and you can see more of Abby’s book, The Complex of All These, on the WSW Website. Abby worked on her edition during April-May 2009 under one of our artists' book grants. While here, WSW supported her with travel money, a materials stipend, a living stipend, technical assistance, 24 hour studio access, and housing. Our annual postmark deadline for this program is November 15th, check out the WSW website for details on how to apply.

Fantastic photos - I wish that I could have made it out there when I visited the States a few years ago...
