Jill, it was great to have you join us at our meeting last Saturday. More of a gathering of Artist Book people than a meeting.
I hope you did not mind me 'encouraging' you to not explain so much about your wonderful book and to 'let it speak' as I could see everyone quite absorbed by the book and your images. Also. a part of me knew that there were many attending and everyone (almost) had a book to show and we would be in threat of going past the alloted 6.00pm closure.
There was a lot of creative energy in the room form such a diverse group of artists and a very stimulating time for most of us. We are growing in number and I am sure something very interesting will come out of the association.
Look foward to keeping in touch and welcoming you to our next gathering.
Jill, you are here in Sydney and we do not know you. I have a group of book artists that meets once a month in my workshop simply to share ideas, encourage each other and generally support each other. These friends are the core group that support me in my endeavour to establish a major annual artists book exhibition here in Sydney.
So, I contact you directly to ask if you are interested to join our Artists' Book exhibition due to open on 30th September here is Sydney (Gallery Red, Glebe). If so then email me and II will send you the Entry Form and Conditions of Entry.
I would also like to invite you to join our group if you would like. We meet every third Saturday of the month, 4.00 to 6.00pm in my bindery - 184 Enmore Road, Enmore (above the Amazing Paper retail shop).
A full colour catalogue showing all the works in the exhibition plus artists statements will be produced and each exhibitor gets one as part of their entry fee.
Jill sorry 1st april is the opening of the thirroul seaside adnarts festival exhibitions, other wise i planned ot be there. i will get to see the books as i am often in fairlight visiting my daughter and grandson.
The exhibition presents two connected bodies of material: a survey of artists’ books by Australian painter, sculptor and bookmaker Robert Jacks (1942-2014), and an extensive selection of publications drawn from Jacks’ own collection, many of which were purchased from Printed Matter in the early years of the organization.
